Spreadsheet Editor

ExcelFree · Private

A real editable spreadsheet grid with a built-in formatting toolbar, multiple sheets, and search/filters, plus AI-assisted formulas, sorting, highlighting, charts, and data insights — all on-device. Nothing uploaded.

Nothing is uploaded — all processing happens on your device. No spreadsheet data ever leaves this browser tab — the grid, formulas, and AI features all run entirely on-device.

No cell selected

How to use it

  1. Type directly into the grid, paste data, or import a .csv/.xlsx file. Use the built-in toolbar for formatting, the "+" tab to add sheets, and the search/filter icons to find or narrow down data.
  2. Write formulas normally (start with =) — SUM, IF, VLOOKUP, and the rest of jSpreadsheet's formula engine work as you'd expect.
  3. Select a cell and use the buttons to ask AI for a formula, explain the formula in the selected cell, or clean up a selected range of messy values.
  4. Or type a plain-English request into the "Ask AI" bar: "sort column B descending", "highlight column C over 100", "chart column A vs column B", or "summarize this sheet".
  5. Export your work as .xlsx whenever you're ready.

A real spreadsheet, with AI built in

This is a genuine spreadsheet — real formulas, cell references, a formatting toolbar, multiple sheets, search, and column filters, not just an editable table. The dedicated AI buttons reuse the exact same logic as the Formula Generator, Formula Explainer, and Messy Data Cleaner tools elsewhere in this section. The "Ask AI" bar adds Copilot-style commands (sort, highlight, chart, summarize) — sort/ highlight/chart are guaranteed-correct results, and "summarize" computes real statistics before asking the on-device AI for a short, numberless reaction on top.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a real spreadsheet, not just a table?
Yes — it's built on jSpreadsheet CE, an open-source spreadsheet engine (MIT licensed). You get real cell references, working formulas (SUM, IF, VLOOKUP, and more), a formatting toolbar, multiple sheet tabs, column filters, search, multi-cell selection, copy/paste, and undo/redo.
How does the AI fit in?
Three toolbar actions reuse the same on-device model and logic as the dedicated Formula Generator, Formula Explainer, and Messy Data Cleaner tools: describe a formula in plain English and insert it into the selected cell, get a step-by-step breakdown of a formula, or clean inconsistent values in a selected range. There's also an "Ask AI" command bar for everyday requests like "sort column B descending", "highlight column C over 100", "chart column A vs column B", or "summarize this sheet".
Is this like Microsoft Copilot in Excel?
It's inspired by it, but scoped to what a small model running entirely in your browser can do reliably. Sorting, highlighting, and charting are handled with plain code (not AI) so they're always correct. "Summarize this sheet" computes real statistics — sums, averages, outliers, duplicates — in plain JS, and only asks the AI for a short, numberless reaction on top. It doesn't do open-ended multi-step editing, web search, or read other files — those need a much larger model and would break the no-upload guarantee.
Can I import and export real files?
Yes — import a .csv or .xlsx file to load it into the grid, and export your work as .xlsx at any time, both via SheetJS running locally in your browser.
Is my spreadsheet uploaded anywhere?
No. The grid, formulas, AI features, and import/export all run entirely on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
