Grammar Checker Extension

Browser ExtensionFree · Private

Fix grammar and spelling as you type, on any site — powered by the same on-device AI model as the Grammar Fixer tool. Nothing is ever uploaded.

Download for Chrome, Edge & Brave

Not yet on the Chrome Web Store — install it as an unpacked extension in under a minute (steps below).

Why it's different

100% on-device

The same local AI model that powers the Grammar Fixer tool runs entirely inside your browser. Nothing you type is ever sent to a server.

Red squiggly underlines

Mistakes get flagged inline, Word/Grammarly-style, as you type — hover one for a suggestion popover, click Accept to fix just that word.

Works almost anywhere

Textareas, text inputs, and editable fields across any site — email, docs, forms, social posts.

Downloads once, works offline

The AI model downloads on first use and is cached by your browser. Every fix after that runs fully offline.

Install it

  1. 1

    Download the extension

Click the button above to download the .zip file, then unzip it anywhere on your computer.

  2. 2

    Open your browser’s extensions page

Go to chrome://extensions (or edge://extensions, brave://extensions) and turn on Developer mode, top right.

  3. 3

    Click "Load unpacked"

Select the unzipped ghivo-grammar-checker-extension folder (the one containing manifest.json).

  4. 4

    Start typing

Focus any text field on the web — a small orange check button appears, and mistakes get underlined in red as you pause typing.

Privacy & limitations

The extension vendors its own copy of the on-device model runtime — it does not phone home, and the only network requests it makes are to download the model weights (from Hugging Face) the first time you use it. After that, everything runs offline.

It checks the main page only (not content inside iframes), and works best with plain textareas, text inputs, and simple editable fields — some rich text editors that manage their own internal document model may not fully pick up an automatic replacement. It's automatically disabled on ghivo.online, since this site already has the Grammar Fixer tool built in.

Prefer to stay in the browser without installing anything? Use the Grammar Fixer tool instead — same model, same corrections, zero install.
